 Lower San Juan River Trips

San Juan River Brown Trout, New MexicoThis is a rare and extremely memorable drift boat fishing trip through waters thick with hungry Trout that few will ever experience. On this trip we access up to 13 miles of pristine river with very few people. Many experience San Juan River fishers have never seen, let alone, fished this part of the river. We are one of the very few guide services that even fish these waters.

The Browns and Rainbows on this section are hot fish putting up a great battle, and their willingness to bite makes for a memorable day. The average fish on this float will be about 12-15" with plenty of fish in the 18-20" class as well.

Lower San Juan River SceneryThe Lower San Juan River is beautiful just to float with stretches of green farmland, Russian Olive trees and rock formations blending together with the rivers changing currents in an epic beauty only experienced on the Lower San Juan.

This is a longer trip than a usual full day trip and does cost a bit more due to the time it takes to put in and shuttle trucks to the takeout point.

Although this is a wonderful trip for people new to the sport of fly fishing as there are few people and very willing fish, a bit more is required of a client on this trip because these are private waters. We cannot lay anchor or go ashore, so you may need to undo your own tangles and tie on your own flies in certain areas of the river as the guide will need to direct the boat. Accurate casting also makes this trip more productive.

Rods, reels, flies and tippets will be provided as needed. Beverages and a great lunch are also included, just note you will most likely be eating lunch on the boat!

Trip Checklist

Although we provide most of the fishing gear you will need for an unforgettable day on the water, you should make sure to pack some minimal gear of your own such as the proper clothing, your own pair of polarized sunglasses and other personal items.
To help you in your preparations for the fishing trip of a lifetime we have prepared a checklist of what we recommend you pack or wear for a trip with Resolution Guide Service.
